The following group of paintings are part of an 18 year investigation that started with an individual looped line. Using an intuitive process of mark-making; the looped line contained no inherent meaning, but when multiplied the lines started to tell a story of interconnection and growth. Over time the individual lines began to stack, overlap, or form organic figures. Most recently, groups of stacked looped lines are realized as a structure that provides form to a process of layering different colors. Each painting is an exploration in hiding, eroding, or dissolving the structure. The structure remains, but to what extent it can be understood or witnessed varies greatly.
